pretty much awesome

After reading The Old Man and the Sea, hearing the radio broadcast and visiting http://www.npg.si.edu/exh/hemingway/ehquote.htm, I think that I have a good idea of Hemingways writing techniques. I think that he has a very bold way of writing. He killed himself when he was 62 years old. He shot himself in the mouth with a double barrel shot gun. He had a fear of being alone. He was born on July 21, 1899.

Hemingway was a very good author. He will always be one of the best authors ever!! Hemingway was a very masculant writer. He was pretty much a kick butt guy. His writing styles have never really changes. The reason that he was such a good author was because he always wrote things that are true, or things that relate to the truth. I would buy all of his books if i could. They are really good!

The Old Man and the Sea is one of the best books that i have ever read in my life. I personally think that this was a book about hope, endurance, and encourgement. There are many reasons that i think this books shows a strong sence of hope. Going out to sea for 84 days and not catchining a thing would be enough to kill almost anyones hopes, not the old man though. The old man went out on the 85th day, that day he went out farther and took more risks then ever and he ended up hooking the biggest fish of his life. I also think that it shows that just because things don’t go the way that you want they to, (like having 7 sharks eat your biggest fish ever) you should not settle for less than your best. It is really quite a bummer that the trophy fish didn’t make it home though, when i heard that i sort of thought that this book was sad, and that it showed mourning. I thought this untill I realized that the man wasn’t mad and he didnt give up on fishing or anything. The old man didnt get to bring home his fish, but he did get to bring home the skeleton and the head and huge tail, so everyone got to see why he was gone for so long…and his great journy. HE BECAME A LEDGEND THE DAY HE GOT HOME.

GREAT BOOK…i would recomend this book to almost anyone…

As we have been reading the old man and the sea, I have noticed several things that the old man says. I wonder, though, why does he “argue” with himself. He says one thing in his head, and then aloud he questions himself, or he says the opposite. This is one thing that i don’t understand yet. I found a passage that I really like, ” ‘BUT MAN IS NOT MADE FOR DEFEAT’ HE SAID. ‘A MAN CAN BE DESTROYED BUT NOT DEFETED’. I AM SORRY THAT I KILLED THE FISH THOUGH, HE THOUGHT.” For some reason this passage just really jumped out at me. I personally think that the old man is full of wisdom.

A question that someone in my class asked was why did the old man say sorry to the dead fish, i think that the answear to this question is that the old man feels bad because the fish is getting mutalated. Another person asks why the old man doesnt row faster to get back to the shore, and i think that its beacuse he is to weak to row faster, he has been out at the sea for a long while and he has very little to eat or drink.

I would have to say that i think that there are a lot of potential signs in this book. I’m not quite sure what they all add up to yet, but i just get the feeling they hold greater meaning then what they are thought to. One of these potential signs that i think is the bird that the old man had been seing, he has such a great resepect for all of the things of nature. Also i think that the fact that the fish drug the old man out so far could mean something. Lots of things in the book could be symbols.

The Declaration of Independance was written because the English men that were in the U.S. were really over the whole being ruled by the King of England! So they wanted to have their own rules and ways. Jeffersons auddience was probubly some old guys, that wore white curly wigs. I think that if he hadn’t had a good reason for writing it and hadn’t had such stern guys as his audience he would have written it a little bit different, heck he might have out some swear words in it. I am not sure how they consiterd the audiance’s oppinion.

In my blogs right now my main audience is pretty much just my teacher Mr.Sheehy. My current purpose for this blog is to try to get better at explaining things and trying to get an alright grade in this class. I am not sure what the potential could be for this whole blog thing….I just don’t know. I guess my blog is alright. I do not hate it. My writing style is for pretty much who ever wants to read it, i dont know if everyone will like it but i guess its alright. I would say that i probubly should make myself more clear when i write. To tell you the truth no i havent really conciterd my audience when i have been writing, maybe i will start!

In the old man and the sea i have seen a lot of things that intrest me. I dont like that we olny read like ten pages a day and that kind of bumms me out!!!! I guess there is a lot of symlolism in the book but I just cant put my finger on it right now. The old man has a HUGE fish on his line and he is really happy about that. I am not sure what is going to happen. I think that the old man might die. That sounds really bad and mean but I mean its true i think that is going to die. I think that he is going to get back onto the shore and stuff and get all the fish stuff done and then i think he is going to die. I hope that he doesnt but it could happen. It makes me sad that the boy wasnt with the old man when he got the big fish so that he could help him out and stuff. I think that when the boy finds out that the old man is not back he is going to be worried, and also i think that the boy is going to be bummed that he didnt get to help the old man out with the fish. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!
