Double talking…

The double talk

In this recording I am reading a passage from the book. It was telling Lenning to go back to a spot where he had been with George. Pretty much everyone in my group agreed that this quote was really important. I think that it had some thing to do with forshaddowing maybe…

the “talk”

“the talk”

This is a recording of a conversation that Marshall, Christine and myself had about “Of Mice and Men”. In this recording you hear Marshall talking about how one word that he thinks of to describe this book was unexpected. Then you hear me say examples of why i thought that the book was unexpected.

Well that was not what i expected…

O MY GOODNESS!!!! George killed Lennie? That is crazy man. I think that I am in some sort of shock right now of someting because that just blows my mind. I guess I just want to know why George shot Lennie? I hope that someone tells me….like right now. I know that Lennie would have gone to jail or been shot by someone else if they caught him, but i wonder how hard that must have been for George to do that!!!WOW. Ahh actually I am sort of mad that that happend! Uhhh what the heck?!?!?!

“Slim said ‘you hadda, george. I swear you hadda. Come with me’”-why the heck did he have to do it….

All i have to say is that i am mad as hornets!!!1

Where is the love…

“Well, he seen this girl in a red dress. Dumb bastard like he is, wants to touch ever’thing he likes. Just wants to feel it. So he reached out to feel this red dress an; the girl lets out a squawk, and that gets Lennie all mixed up, and he holds on ‘cause that’s the only thing he can do. Well, this girl squawks and squawks.” –pg 41

I think that this passage could potentially be really important. I think that this may be something to consider. I am not sure about the whole meaning of this but yea.

There are a few things that I wonder about this whole book though. Like, I don’t know why George doesn’t just leave Lennie somewhere if he is always saying that his life would be so much better without him. I also don’t know why Curley’s wife is such a hussy, she is always walking around talking to all the guys and acting like she is not married, it could be because she is unhappy-but I don’t know. Another thing that I have been wondering while I have been reading this book is if Slim and Curley’s wife have a “thing” or not. Hmm lot’s of thing to find out I guess…;)

What to do with this worn out shoe

December 4, 2006

“Well, look. Lenie-if you jus’ happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in the brush.” “Hide in the brush,” Lennie said slowly. “Hide in the brush till I come for you. Can you remember that?”

Pp 14 Of Mice and Men

I think that this was an important passage because its telling us that Lennie has done bad things before, I doesn’t really tell us anything about what he did or anything but we know that he has done something bad. These two guys are totally opposite! I want to read more and more of this book

The mice are out

After watching the video for Grapes of Wrath I have noticed a few things about Steinbeck’s writing. I think that he writes about people that are ordinary. For some reason I think that he writes about hard times and struggles that people had to go through and stuff. I think that the theme for Of Mice and Men is going to be like Grapes of Wrath. I also think that from what I have read so far that both books are good.
